eFootball 2027 update: 5 major changes players need to know
By William Muthama, August 14, 2026Konami has rolled out the long-awaited Season Update v6.0.0 for eFootball, widely referred to by the community as eFootball 2027.
Released on Thursday, August 13, 2026, under the theme “Play On, All Together,” the update brings major changes focused on social play, tactical flexibility and more dynamic gameplay.
Here are five of the biggest changes players need to know.
1. Custom tournament mode
One of the biggest additions is the new Custom Tournament mode, which allows players to create or join tournaments featuring up to eight participants.
Hosts can customise various rules, including substitution limits and player eligibility based on leagues, clubs, countries or regions.
Dream Teams can also compete under specific themed regulations, while tournament owners can spectate matches in real time using different camera angles.
The feature gives friends and eFootball communities a dedicated way to organise their own competitions without relying on external arrangements.
2. New Overload Team Playstyle
Konami has also introduced a new Overload Team Playstyle, designed to create numerical advantages around the area of the pitch where the ball is located.
In attack, players move closer to the ball to support short-passing combinations and maintain possession in crowded areas.

Defensively, the system keeps players compact around the ball, allowing teams to press more quickly and restrict opponents’ passing options.
The addition gives players another tactical option when setting up their teams.
3. Fluid formations and split playing styles
The update also introduces greater control over how teams behave during different phases of a match.
Players can now set separate formations for attacking and defensive situations. This means, for example, that full-backs can push forward when their team has possession before dropping back into a more defensive shape when possession is lost.

Konami has also split Playing Styles into Attacking and Defensive categories. Players can have one style, the other, or both, while several new defensive styles have also been introduced.
The changes give players more freedom to customise individual roles and overall team tactics.
4. Dynamic volley
Another eye-catching addition is Dynamic Volley.
Players can perform more spectacular volley attempts by using the Stunning Shot command while the ball is in the air.
The new mechanic adds another option for finishing crosses, rebounds and aerial passes, potentially creating more dramatic goals.
5. Daily game overhaul
The Daily Game has also received a major redesign, bringing new mini-games and additional ways for players to engage with the game.
The update also includes refreshed team structures, kits and emblems across several leagues, while the Moroccan League has been added to the game.
The New Season Campaign, running from August 13, 2026, to September 3, 2026, also features login bonuses, objectives and various rewards, including player selection opportunities.
Konami has additionally introduced managers capable of supporting two Link-Up Plays, adding another layer to team-building.
With new social features, tactical options, gameplay mechanics and seasonal rewards, the v6.0.0 update represents one of the biggest changes to eFootball in recent months.
