Sex predators in Trans Nzoia given last warning to change or perish

Trans Nzoia Woman Representative, Lilian Chebet Siyoi, has fired a warning shot at all the sexual offenders that ruthless legal action will be taken against them.

Speaking at Makutano in Cherang’any Constituency during a consultative meeting with the electorate, Siyoi decried the rise in cases of defilement, rape and domestic violence in Trans Nzoia County.

“I and my office have noted with great concern the sharp increase in the number of cases of sexual and gender based violence in our County. We therefore want a serious action taken against all the perpetrators of this violence,” Siyoi said.

The lawmaker condemned parents who collude with offenders to deny justice to the victims of sexual and gender based violence and called on law enforcement and administration officers to deal with them.

“We have also realised that there are some kangaroo courts where heartless parents accept bribes from the sexual offenders and settle the cases outside court. That should not be condoned,” the County MP warned.

She further offered sisterly advice to all the men who are attracted to school-going girls to avoid them because their days are numbered.

“If you are really attracted to female students, the best thing to do is to buy your wife your favourite school uniforms so that whenever you see her, you are attracted, and your mind is diverted from minors,” she added.

Siyoi also took a swipe at some men who are fond of physically assaulting their wives.

“Even the Bible clearly states that women are the weaker sex and that you should not beat them. Please, even if your wife has annoyed you, never should you hurt them physically. Give a chance to dialogue and other harmless ways of resolving conflict,” she appealed.

She stated that her office through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NG-AAF) will continue empowering women, youths and people with Disabilities PWDs.

“Although my allocation is very little, I have supported several self-help groups and CBOs. We are now focusing on welfare groups in our societ,y whereby we are giving them tents and also sponsoring needy students,” she said.
