When talking about prostitution in Nairobi, Koinange Street is what strikes our minds. But K-Street is for upscale prostitutes who target affluent consumers.
Prostitution in Nairobi is ‘zoned’, the most expensive hookers are found in uptown areas and at high-end nightclubs. Cheap twilight girls are found in downtown areas of Nairobi CBD.
There are several places downtown where sex workers operate day and night offering their services to randy clients for VERY affordable prices.
The places include;
Ukwala Lane in the OTC area
Prostitutes who ply their trade along Ukwala Lane operate in broad daylight and also at night. The hookers here are approximately in their 30s and 40s and also very well-endowed in terms of body shape and size.
If you take a walk along Ukwala Lane any time of the day you will find the sex workers lined up while leaning against the walls, sitting down and wandering aimlessly almost the entire length of that road.
During the day, you might not know they are prostitutes unless you check them out. They will approach or signal you when they see you eyeballing them.
The hookers are usually skimpily dressed, often wearing knee-high miniskirts that expose hectares of their wondrous thighs to thirst-trap potential male clients.
The sex workers here offer their services at affordable prices. For as little as Ksh500 you can get laid, with a packet of condoms in the bargain.
Prostitutes in River Road
Few prostitutes operate along River Road during the day but at night the approximately 2km stretch of road becomes the epicentre of prostitution in Nairobi.
If you think Koinange Street is bad, then you haven’t been to River Road at night. River Road is the hotbed of commerce in Nairobi during the day, at night equally, there is a lot of business going on – with the oldest profession being the dominant activity.
River Road hookers are mostly young girls in their 20s so to say. They are VERY aggressive. If you are a man walking with your girlfriend or any other woman along River Road at night, be sure the ladies of the night will attack her.
The twilight girls at River Road don’t like competition from your girlfriend. If you are a man walking alone and you show interest in them, they will mob you and steal any valuables you have with you – wallets, phones etc.
The best way to deal with hookers in River Road is to isolate one, talk to only one at a time and don’t allow them to surround you – otherwise, you will regret it.
River Road hookers can be expensive and equally very cheap depending on your bargaining power. A quickie in a dark alley can cost you a meagre Ksh300 but you will fork out more if you prefer to do it in a lodge.
If you also want to smash raw or ‘nyama kwa nyama’ as they call it, you will certainly pay upwards of Ksh3000.
Tsavo Road
Tsavo road is the stretch connecting Latema Road (Odeon area) and Kenneth Matiba road – formerly Accra Road.
You will not see a single prostitute on Tsavo Road during the day, but at night it’s something else. From 10 pm that stretch of road is usually filled with twilight girls targeting mostly revellers and travellers heading to Kisumu using the Toyota Noah and Voxy that usually park there.
Travellers seeking a quickie before proceeding with their journey upcountry are usually charged less compared to revellers who are in no hurry to get to their residences around the city.
Tsavo Road at night is the place where hookers wear short revealing clothes without any panties and sit with legs wide open like the gates of hell to attract randy customers willing to quench their thirst at a fee.
Duruma Road
Duruma Road is in the downtown area joining River Road at an intersection. The street is alive even when the rest of the city shuts down as night sets in.
Both legal and illegal businesses thrive on Duruma Road round the clock.
Duruma Road has all kinds of businesses, including barbershops, uniform shops, tens of brothels and clubs, temporary eateries, buses booking offices, miraa trading, and even alleged peddling of hardcore drugs.
This street does not sleep because nearly all booking offices for buses to Mombasa, Kampala and Tanzania are located here, and people who travel at night must get something to grab, thus the temporary eateries dealing with various foods.
Prostitution also thrives on Duruma Road with arguably the cheapest sex workers in Nairobi found here, plying their business along this stretch of road during the day and at night.
Travellers get quickies in cheap rooms going for between Ksh50 and Ksh150 before hopping onto the buses.
During the day, the sex workers stand at the entrances of brothels to attract potential clients. Most of them are usually light skin in complexion, young and slender.
At night, however, you will find all calibre of prostitutes, even pregnant hookers. Some men have a fetish for pregnant twilight girls as there is a belief that their nunus are usually very hot – these clients are charged a lot.
Moi Avenue
If you don’t know where Kenya’s most famous brothel is located then you don’t live in Nairobi. Prostitution along Moi Avenue is almost limited to just one place – that popular brothel where some aged ladies of the night still operate.
The popular brothel is said to be the oldest in Kenya, existing since the late 1970s. Located near Ambassador bus station, the brothel is home to both old (am talking about hookers with wrinkles) and young sex workers.
If you love ‘wamama’, then the brothel is the place for you. Because it has been in existence for so long, some prostitutes who have been working there for ages simply refuse to retire.
The old sex workers mostly tend to veteran clients who have frequented the bordello for so many years – this is the place you can actually meet your grandfather and your dad if they haven’t yet ‘retired’ from the game.
However, the popular brothel also has young prostitutes to cater for the generations that prefer to lay their age groups.
At the brothel, sex costs between Ksh200 to Ksh1, 000, depending on what style and the duration you wish to spend with the hookers.
As you enter the building, you are mobbed by as many as 10 sex workers, each fighting to have a piece of you; “it’s me, mine is sweet,” you will hear the hookers praise their cookie jars and sex prowess.
The layout of this brothel is very interesting, there is no ground floor you just stake the stairways up to the first floor which hosts the bar. Two other floors are rooms where all manner of debauchery happens.
Sex workers are usually lined along the stairways, you can grab as many as you want for a nice time.
