How to add a beneficiary on Safaricom’s Shiriki Pay via My OneApp
By Dan Kauna, August 1, 2026Safaricom has highlighted a simple way for M-PESA users to share transaction limits with loved ones directly through My OneApp.
Tapping into online chatter around special occasions, the telecommunications company reached out to users looking for easy ways to treat their partners, posting, “My guy, huna plans za Girlfriend’s Day? No worries… Shiriki Pay has you covered .”
The telco advised customers to add their significant others as beneficiaries on the app, offering a practical way to handle special plans without sending lump sums upfront.
Steps to add a beneficiary on Shiriki Pay
Setting up someone on your M-PESA balance takes just a minute on your phone, giving your partner the freedom to treat themselves.

To get started, open My OneApp on your device, go to the main menu, and head over to My Financial Services. Tap the Shiriki Pay option to open your wallet settings.
The rest of the process is quick. Enter their mobile number, set a spending limit, and confirm everything using your M-PESA PIN. Once authorised, your beneficiary can spend up to that allowance straight from your main balance without you having to send cash directly to their phone.
How Shiriki Pay works for everyday spending
Shiriki Pay lets you share spending power while you keep full control over your money. Your listed beneficiary can use the approved limit to pay for goods, settle bills, send money, or pay via Pochi la Biashara.

The cash stays in your main M-PESA wallet until the beneficiary makes a payment. You can add up to two beneficiaries, with each person getting a limit of up to Ksh20,000 per month.
Safaricom charges a one-off setup fee of Ksh35 per beneficiary limit, while normal M-PESA transaction fees apply whenever payments go through. You can edit limits or remove a beneficiary whenever you want, making it a handy tool to manage daily home expenses or simply make a loved one smile.
