How to find love, BBI and Omanyala tops list of Kenya’s 2021 Google searches
By Collins Osanya, December 9, 2021Kenyans have been eager to find love in 2021, Google has revealed. According to a Wednesday, December 8 statement, the search engine said ‘how to find true love’ topped the list of the questions sought from the search engine.
Sharing the same range of the top most searched queries was the BBI and sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala who is currently Africa’s fastest man.
The list of the most searched queries, Google said, range from global stories to 10 lists of trending topics such as music, lifestyle, personalities, news, sports to ‘what is’ and ‘how to’ queries.
In the general trending list, Kenyans love for football came out as the English Premier League topped the list. The second was Uganda elections where musician Bobi Wine came second in a tight race won by incumbent Yoweri Museveni.
Third in the list was the Kiambaa by-election where the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) trounced Jubilee in a much hyped by-election.
Former UNCTAD Secretary General Mukhisa Kituyi was the top trending local personality after declaring his 2022 presidential candidature and later on faced assault allegations while on a popularization tour in Mombasa.
Former President Mwai Kibaki came second when he celebrated his 90th birthday in November while Kenya’s first female Chief Justice Martha Koome came in third.
Eliud Kipchoge came fourth after won a gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics marathon, followed by Deputy President William Ruto in fifth place.
Bobi Wine topped in the trending Global Personalities category, followed by U.S President Joe Biden and sports journalist Fabrizio Romano who specialises in football transfers.
COVID-19 Registry was the top trending search query in the health category followed by AstraZeneca Vaccine and Chanjo Kenya.
