How to cook garlic butter mushrooms at Home

Garlic butter mushrooms are one of the easiest and most flavorful dishes to make at home. With a few simple ingredients and the right cooking method, you can create restaurant-style mushrooms in just a few minutes.
The first step is choosing fresh mushrooms. Button mushrooms, cremini mushrooms, and baby bella mushrooms are some of the best options because they absorb flavour well while maintaining a juicy texture. Fresh mushrooms should feel firm and dry, without dark spots or slimy surfaces.
Before cooking, gently clean the mushrooms using a damp paper towel or soft cloth instead of washing them under too much water.
Mushrooms quickly absorb moisture, and excess water can prevent them from browning properly during cooking.
Cooking the mushrooms properly
To prepare the dish, heat a large pan over medium-high heat and add a mixture of butter and oil. The oil helps keep the butter from burning while still giving the mushrooms a rich buttery flavour.
Once the pan is hot, add the mushrooms in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding the pan because too many mushrooms at once can trap moisture and make them soft instead of golden brown.

Allow the mushrooms to cook undisturbed for a few minutes before stirring. This helps them develop a deep golden colour and richer flavour.
As they soften and release moisture, stir occasionally until they become tender and slightly crispy around the edges.
Next, add freshly minced garlic and cook for about a minute until fragrant. Garlic cooks quickly, so it is important not to let it burn. Season the mushrooms with salt, black pepper, and fresh herbs such as parsley or thyme for extra flavour.
Some people also add chilli flakes, parmesan cheese, or a small squeeze of lemon juice to enhance the taste.
Serving and flavour tips
Garlic butter mushrooms can be served in many different ways. They pair well with grilled meat, creamy mashed potatoes, pasta dishes, toasted bread, or rice. They can also be enjoyed on their own as a quick snack or appetiser.

The secret to delicious garlic butter mushrooms is patience and high heat. Allowing the mushrooms to brown properly creates deeper flavour and a better texture.
