Kenyans are currently in a rush to register their SIM cards following the directive by the Communication Authority of Kenya (CA) that all cards must be registered by 15th April to avoid being closed.
With just a few days to the deadline, there is a few ways you can navigate to easily register to ensure your line doesn’t get blocked by your service provider.
For instance, if you are an Airtel user, you will not need to go to your service provider’s dealers or shops for the registration process. All you will need is your smartphone, internet and a photo of your ID card on your phone.
Here is how to register your Airtel SIM card in the comfort of your home.
First, you should confirm which lines are registered using your ID and this you can do by simply dialling *106# then you select your ID type and then enter the respective ID number.
Upon completing the above steps you should get an SMS notification in a short while with the number(s) registered under your ID.
Should the SMS mention the numbers which are not known to you then you will need to visit the nearest Airtel shop with your original ID to have the numbers de-registered.
If you get that it is only your number registered under your ID number then you will proceed to the Airtel website where you will click here to download the Airtel Kenya customer registration form.
You will then fill the form by yourself which upon completion you will submit to the Airtel shop close to you.
You will, however, be required to submit the form together with one of these documents.
Verification Documents: Kenyan Citizen
For a Kenyan citizen not in possession of an original identification document: For East African Residents, For a Foreign National, For a corporate person or a statutory body and Minors
Secondly, you click here to update your SIM registration details by uploading a clear image of your ORIGINAL ID (front and back) to register your SIM by yourself.
