There’s nothing like gathering with your favourite people for a cosy movie night, and no movie experience is complete without some delicious snacks to share.

Whether you’re in the mood for something sweet, salty, crunchy, or cheesy, the right treats can make your night even more memorable.

From easy homemade bites to creative twists on classics, here are some fun and tasty snack ideas to level up your next movie night with loved ones.

Curry and lime-spiced popcorn

Ingredients

  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp light olive oil
  • 45g popping corn
  • 1 tsp mild curry powder
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp finely grated lime zest
  • pinch sea salt

Method

  1. Place a lidded saucepan over a medium heat. Lightly toast the cumin seeds for 1–2 minutes, then tip into a bowl.
  2. Add the oil and popping corn to the pan and stir well. Cover with the lid and cook for a few minutes, shaking the pan every few seconds, until the corn starts to pop. Keep shaking constantly while popping to avoid burning the corn.
  3. Mix together the toasted cumin seeds, curry powder, cinnamon and lime zest.
  4. Sprinkle the seasoning and a little sea salt over the popcorn and serve immediately.

Baked vegetable crisps

These vegetable crisps make a colourful snack. Try mixing up the veg and seasonings swap purple beetroot for golden ones, carrots for sweet potatoes or parsnip for celeriac. Our method is oven baked – see our recipe tip below for an air fryer version.

Ingredients

  • 2 beetroot, scrubbed and very thinly sliced on a mandolin or with a vegetable peeler
  • 2 carrots, scrubbed and very thinly sliced on a mandolin or with a vegetable peeler
  • 1 large parsnip, scrubbed and very thinly sliced on a mandolin or with a vegetable peeler
  • 1 tbsp light rapeseed, vegetable or sunflower oil
  • ½ tsp dried oregano or herbes de Provence (optional)
  • ¼ tsp garlic granules or powder (optional)
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method

  1. Lay the vegetables on a tray and pat dry using kitchen paper or a clean tea towel. If you have time, leave them sandwiched in kitchen paper for 5–10 minutes to really dry out – this will give a crisper result.
  2. Preheat the oven to 190C/170C.
  3. Put the vegetables in a big bowl, drizzle over the oil and some salt and pepper and mix with your hands, working the oil through thoroughly until all the vegetables are coated. Spread the vegetables evenly on two baking trays. Bake for 15 minutes, then turn over and bake for a further 8–12 minutes until dried out and golden brown.
  4. Scatter with the herbs and spices, if using, and leave to cool and crisp up before serving.
