Wilbroda questions appointment of non-experts to top govt jobs

By , April 14, 2026

Milele FM radio host and actress Jacquey Nyaminde, widely known as Wilbroda, has questioned why non-experts are given top government jobs, raising concerns about qualifications and experience.

While on air on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, she said some appointments appear to be based on favours instead of skill. She explained that this trend affects how key sectors are managed.

She said many qualified people have studied and trained for specific roles. She explained that these individuals are often overlooked despite their knowledge. She added that giving roles to unqualified people creates gaps in leadership.

“You know, this is what happens when you are giving favours,” Wilbroda said.

She went on to explain that expertise should be considered before assigning responsibilities. She said some industries require deep understanding and training. She added that ignoring this can lead to poor decision-making.

Concerns over expertise in leadership

Wilbroda explained that sectors like energy have many trained professionals. She said these individuals are capable of handling responsibilities if given the chance. She added that they have studied and understand the work required.

“Naweza kukuambiwa ya kwamba kuna watu wengi sana wamesomea hii industry ya energy,” Wilbroda said.

She said that despite this, positions are sometimes given to people without the right background. She explained that this creates confusion and inefficiency. She added that leadership should match the demands of the role.

“There are people who are well qualified, ambao wamesomea, ambao wanaweza kufuatilia, but now you give anybody anything,” Wilbroda said.

She also pointed out how some leaders are moved across different roles. She said this makes it hard for them to focus on one area. She added that constant changes raise questions about their expertise.

“That is why utapata Murkomen ame kuwa kwa barabara, amekua kwa mambo ya interior, security..amekua kwa mambo ya sijui nini,” Wilbroda said.

Wilbroda said such movements leave leaders handling many issues at once. She explained that this can affect performance and decision-making. She added that specialisation is important in leadership roles.

“You are being taken just left, right and centre, but what is your speciality?” Wilbroda said.

“As much as ya kwamba wewe ni CS people are working under you, at least you need to have an idea. Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum of Kenya, Wandayi alikua ni MP, kabla hajakuja hajachukuliwa,” Wilbroda said.
