Talia Oyando marks 23 years of E-Sir’s death with touching tribute

Radio personality Talia Oyando has marked 23 years since legendary Kenyan singer E-Sir breathed his last with a touching tribute.
Talia noted that the legacy of E-Sir, who died on March 16, 2003, lives on, with his presence felt every day.
She added that the singer who died at a young age but left a lasting impact remains the Greatest of All Time (GOAT), saying that he is dearly missed.
“You are missed. We still feel your presence every single day. Keep resting, Sizzo; you remain the G.O.A.T. 23 years later. We sing E-SIR,” Talia wrote on her social media accounts on Monday, March 16, 2026.

She summed up her tribute with lines from the late singer’s ‘Hamnitishi’ hit song that made him a household name in Kenyan music.
E-Sir’s death
E-Sir died in a tragic accident along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway on March 16, 2003, at the age of 21.
On the day of the accident, the youthful singer had just finished performing at a beauty contest in Nakuru and was travelling back to Nairobi alongside other musicians, including singer David Mathenge, alias Nameless, when tragedy struck.
Nameless, who was riding in the same car with E-Sir at the time, survived the fatal accident and was left nursing a broken collarbone, along with other injuries and the shock of losing a friend in an accident.
Introducing E-Sir to younger generation
Kenyan stars teamed up to release Bandana ya E-Sir in 2022, an ode to the memory of one of the country’s greatest musical talents who left this world too soon.
Aptly named Bandana ya E-Sir, it is a track that cuts across generations and has been a long time coming. The song features veteran Kenyan artiste David Mathenge, also known as Nameless; top Gengetone stars Nelly The Goon and D’More from Ochungulo Family; E-Sir’s brother Habib; and teen star Trio Mio.

According to Nameless, who was a close friend of the late artiste, the song, which also features other veteran Kenyan artistes like Wyre, Big Pin, Tallia Oyando, Wahu and more, is an effort to introduce the young generation to what the legend E-Sir was.
