Geoffrey Mosiria has questioned the consistency of genge artist Mejja, who continues to release hit songs years into his career.

In a statement shared via his X account on Saturday, March 28, 2026, Mosiria expressed curiosity over how Mejja has managed to remain active and successful in the music scene for such a long time. He also referred to the artist’s latest track Kale Kaogo, as he called on Kenyans to continue supporting local musicians.

Siri ni gani bado mejja ako kwa game na hit after hit? Na siaka ndio nini sasa ? Meanwhile tusupport our own artiste!” Mosiria stated

Mejja’s colourful music career

Mejja, whose real name is Major Nameye Khadija, is one of the most recognisable voices in Kenya’s genge music scene. He rose to fame in the early 2000s under Calif Records, a label that played a key role in shaping urban Kenyan sound. Over the years, he has built a name for himself through witty lyrics, humour, and storytelling that reflect everyday life.

One of his most popular songs, Tabia Za Wa Kenya, became a street anthem for its playful breakdown of common Kenyan habits. The track remains widely known and is often referenced for its relatable and comedic take on society.

Across his career, Mejja has worked with a range of artistes, including Jua Cali, one of the pioneers of genge music, as well as younger acts, showing his ability to stay connected to different generations of listeners.

In 2026, Mejja marked a major milestone with the release of his debut album Mtoto Wa Khadija, nearly two decades after he first entered the industry. The project features a mix of sounds and themes, with songs like Siaka forming part of his latest body of work.
