Shugaboy resigns from radio after 9 years

Renowned radio presenter Ally Mwayongwa, popularly known as Shugaboy, has resigned from his job, marking the end of a nine-year stint that saw him rise to become one of the top talents in the country.
Shugaboy hosted his final show on Friday, February 27, 2026, and shared the news with his fans while appreciating their support over the years.
He recounted his journey with the local radio station, stating that he has grown in all aspects of life.
“It has been a 9-year sweet ride here. I came in very virgin and am now leaving fully equipped. I came in as a boy, leaving as a mature man. I came in broke and am now leaving as a multi-millionaire,” he stated.
Financial growth
He appreciated the local radio station for having an impact on his life over the years.

“I can’t believe this (in Shiti’s voice). Yes, Maisha ni Shugaboy, na Shugaboy ni Maisha. Apart from the sweet and sour memories, hii Tenjee nayo imenijenga. I am not a show-off person, but today allow me to scream, “Zile vitu 9 ndani ya miaka 9 hii radio imenipea wallahi,” he stated.
He detailed how working with the station has resulted in his improved financial standing, with several assets acquired over the years.
Noting that he was not bragging but simply showing appreciation, Shugaboy listed his acquisitions over the years.
“Three personal cars (Crown, Vitz, and Lexus), two 14-seater Matatus, one Tuktuk, five Bodas (bikes), a liquor joint (pub), two Swahili rental houses, a 5-bedroom house (under construction), four pieces of land, and three meals a day and rent for 9 straight years,” the presenter listed.
Political ambitions
The award-winning journalist revealed that his next stop is politics and agriculture.
He appreciated fans and colleagues who have supported him over the years, revealing that his next stop is politics and farming.

“Thanks to everyone, we enjoyed the ride together. Ni Wengi can’t mention. About time to focus on agriculture and politics,” he stated.
He did not rule out a return to radio, stating that a non-negotiable pay of Ksh700,000 per month could see him make a comeback.
