Shepard, who was born Chiquita Renee Shepard, was confirmed dead after suffering a massive heart attack in Los Angeles on Monday, March 16, 2026.
Her sudden death sent the celebrity world into mourning, with her handlers stating that it was largely unexpected for the decorated media personality who did not have chronic health challenges.

The deceased had a decorated career, including serving as a longtime co-host of the legendary music show “Showtime at the Apollo”, sharing the stage with another media legend, Steve Harvey.
