Sam Kitiki sets date for grand launch of his barbershop
By Charles Ouma, February 24, 2026Renowned barber Sam Kitiki has set the date for the grand launch of his barbershop, named Sam Kitiki Kutz.
The barbershop was established with the support of comedian Eric Omondi, who rallied well-wishers in response to an emotional plea by Kitiki, who is fighting cancer.
“All roads will be heading to Utawala in support of our brother @kitikisam_the_barber for the grand opening of his barbershop. God has done it, and we will be there witnessing the good deeds 🙌 Purpose to attend!✨️” reads an invite shared by Kitiki on his social media platforms on Monday, February 23,2026.

The establishment will open its doors to clients on February 28, 2026, with well-wishers expected to flood the establishment for various services as a way of supporting Kitiki in his brave fight against cancer.
Despite the health challenges, Kitiki has remained brave in his battle, showing up for work whenever he can and using every coin for his treatment.
Sam Kitiki’s appeal
Overwhelmed by the cost of treatment, Kitiki put out a statement on January 22, 2026, opening up about his health and appealing for support.
“To anyone who reads this, I have truly given my all in this battle with GIST cancer. Even as the disease advances and the pain grows worse, I still try to show up to work whenever my body allows. What hurts deeply is seeing fewer and fewer clients each day. I give my very best, but sometimes it feels like it’s not enough,” he said.

“Barbering is my passion. It’s what gives me purpose and the strength to keep fighting. Every shilling I earn goes directly toward my treatment. To be honest, I am exhausted—physically, mentally, and emotionally—and there are moments when I feel like giving up and letting this disease take its course. This journey is not easy, and I can only do so much alone. Any amount, no matter how small, is deeply appreciated. Thank you for standing with me,” Sam added.
His appeal saw the comedian use his platform to marshal well-wishers to rally behind Kitiki, with hundreds turning up for a fundraiser and haircuts.
Kitiki’s dream
Following the success of the initiative, Kitiki shared his dream of opening a barbershop that welcomes everyone, especially children living with disabilities and autism.
He noted in a long post on Thursday, February 12, 2026, that these children are often overlooked or misunderstood, and his shop will offer them a safe and supportive space.
He added that haircut experience for these kids will be free, allowing them to feel valued, confident, and respected.
“My dream is to open a barbershop that welcomes everyone, but most importantly, children living with disabilities and autism. In my shop, these kids will not be judged, rushed, or turned away. They will be welcomed with patience, kindness, and respect. And for them, the haircut will be free, because every child deserves to feel seen, confident, and valued,” Kitiki said.
