Naomi Kuria opens up on how smoking bhang cost her Ksh600K brand deal

Digital content creator Naomi Kuria has opened up on the struggles she faced while smoking bhang, which cost her a lucrative brand deal.

Speaking during a candid conversation with Oga Obinna on Monday, January 12, 2026, Naomi narrated how she terminated a Ksh600,000 influencing deal after smoking bhang.

She says after shooting the video, the client asked her to redo the promotional video, but she was too lazy to do it because she was under the influence of bhang, causing the contract to be terminated.

The content creator further revealed that smoking bhang made her extremely lazy and unmotivated.

“Weed ilikuwa inafanya na get lazy. I remember I terminated a very good contract with Uber because they told me to redo a video, and I had already smoked, and I was so lazy to retake the video, and they were paying around Ksh 600,000. I was like, I’m not doing it, I was just lazing around on my couch,” Naomi disclosed.

Side effects

Apart from being lazy and unmotivated, Naomi also shared that bhang affected her memory and speech, adding that she would forget English words and struggle to express herself clearly.

In addition, the content creator added that she used to have dark lips with red eyes.

Genesis of smoking Bhang

Naomi revealed that she started smoking bhang and cigarettes and chewing miraa after venturing into content creation and being paid a lot of money.

“In 2020, I started doing content. YouTube used to pay us well, and that comfort made me sink so much into drugs,” she added.

“I started smoking a lot of weed, cigarettes and chew miraa. I was not doing alcohol because my body ilikuwa inakata, so by the fact I was not drinking nilikuwa najipata na consume hizi zengine sana.”

She added that quitting was very difficult, adding that she fell into depression and became suicidal because of trying to quit; however, she successfully quit, and currently, she is not doing any drugs.

“I got into depression because I wanted to quit because it used to bother me i was not doing the right thing, I was suicidal,” Naomi stated.
