Nana Owiti reflects on past weight struggles
By Paulette Mboga, March 29, 2026Digital influencer Nana Owiti has opened up about her past weight struggles, explaining how her journey has shaped her understanding of self-care.
She shared that her experience was not about appearance but about feeling disconnected from her body. She says this realisation pushed her to learn how to take better care of herself.
“The second frame is the caption. I honestly don’t even recognise that person. To someone struggling with weight. You can feel sore tomorrow, or you can feel sorry tomorrow. You choose. Body positivity for me started with a look in the mirror and talking to me honestly,” Nana Owiti said on Sunday, March 29, 2026.
She explains that there was a time she gained weight and felt uncomfortable, not because of how she looked, but because she did not understand her body. She says the struggle came from not knowing what her body needed or how to respond to it. According to her, that lack of understanding created unease.
“There was a time I got bigger, and the discomfort I felt wasn’t about how I looked. I didn’t think I looked bad. It was deeper than that. I just didn’t know how to care for that version of my body,” she stated.

“I didn’t understand what it needed from me.. how to fuel it, how to move it, how to really listen to it. That disconnect is what made me uneasy,” Nana Owiti said.
Understanding her body and building discipline
She explains that things have now changed after she took time to understand her body better. She says she has learned how to listen to her body and respond to its needs. She adds that this has helped her feel more in control and at peace.
“Now I do,” Nana Owiti said.

Owiti says she now focuses on discipline and consistency in her daily routine. She explains that how she eats and how she moves her body have become part of her lifestyle. She adds that her approach is no longer about punishment but about respect for herself.
“I show up for my body every day with discipline in how I eat and consistency in how I move. I work out more now, not out of punishment but out of respect,” Nana Owiti said.
“Body positivity to me isn’t just love..it’s actually effort. It’s choosing to care for myself daily,” Nana Owiti said.
