Murugi Munyi mourns uncle, Dr Job Obwaka, as she reflects on life moving on
By Paulette Mboga, May 4, 2026Content creator Murugi Munyi has mourned her uncle, Dr Job Obwaka, while reflecting on how life continues even after loss.
On Monday, April 4, 2026, she spoke shortly after news of his death, sharing her thoughts on grief and daily responsibilities. Murugi explained that despite the pain, she still had to carry on with her routine and duties.
“Hey guys, how are you doing? I hope you are doing well. I am doing okay,” Murugi Munyi said.
She said she had been thinking about a quote she once noted down from a book she recently read. Murugi explained that the message had now taken a deeper meaning in her life following her uncle’s passing. Murugi Munyi added that the reality of loss had become clear to her in recent days.

“I am reflecting on a quote that I had noted down, if you remember from Mad Women that I recently read by Joan Thatiah,” she said.
Murugi explained that the quote spoke about how life does not stop even when someone dies. She said her current situation had made her understand the truth behind those words. She added that she was experiencing that reality in a very personal way.
“The first quote that I wrote there is that life does not pause properly for the dead,” Murugi Munyi said.
Life continues amid loss
She went on to describe how daily responsibilities had not changed despite her grief. Murugi explained that she still had to take care of her children and attend to her work. She said these duties continued even as she processed the loss of someone close to her.
“And we are deep in feeling that right now because, I mean, someone you loved has left this earth, but life just keeps moving,” she said.

Murugi added that she was still handling her normal routine, including picking up her children from school. She explained that her work responsibilities were also ongoing, showing how life continues even during difficult moments.
“I am literally about to pick my kids from school because they still need to go to school,” Murugi Munyi said.
Dr Job Obwaka, a veteran gynaecologist and director at Nairobi Hospital, died on Friday, May 1, 2026, while being rushed to the hospital, barely weeks after his high-profile arrest linked to leadership wrangles at the facility.
“Just 45 days after we rescued Job from trumped-up charges by the State in the Nairobi Hospital issue, he has left us,” Kenya Medical Association Chairman Dr Simon Kigondu said.
Kigondu described Obwaka’s death as a major loss to the gynaecology fraternity. He explained that the doctor had been involved in governance disputes at Nairobi Hospital, which had led to his arrest alongside other officials.
