Murugi Munyi explains why your life feels boring and how to fix it

Content creator Murugi Munyi has shared why many adults feel their lives are dull and how they can take action to change it.
Speaking to her Instagram followers on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, she said boredom isn’t about circumstance, but about how much responsibility you take for your own life.
“Sometimes at the end of the day, I tap through my stories and just think, wow, what a full life I live,” Munyi said. “As a child, your parents make decisions for you where to go, what to do, and which school to attend. As an adult, that responsibility shifts entirely to you.”
She explained that adults who feel stuck or uninspired are often waiting for external factors to provide happiness.
“If you think your life is boring, it’s you who must spice it up. If you wish you were involved in more activities, it’s you who must learn, sign up, and take action,” she added.
Take responsibility
Munyi stressed that while certain circumstances may not be your fault, the responsibility to improve them rests with you.
“If you don’t like your body, your relationships, or where you live, it’s on you to make a change. You are the one who faces the consequences, so you are also the one who can fix them,” she said.

Munyi highlighted that one of the most exciting aspects of adulthood is the ability to wake up and decide to change one’s life.
She stressed that the power to transform your circumstances lies entirely with you, and no one else can do it on your behalf.
“What’s exciting about being an adult is that you can wake up tomorrow and decide your life is going to be different; you literally have the power to change it, no one else can do it for you,” Munyi said.
She encouraged people to start small if needed, signing up for a class, reaching out to friends, or tackling personal goals, but emphasised consistency and accountability. “Your life is yours to create,” she said. “Don’t wait for someone else to hand it to you.”
