‘Mshamba wa Bungoma’ – Muchina Malomba recalls painful rejection line that made him question himself

He said the experience pushed him into a period of self-reflection and travel. According to him, the moment affected his confidence and made him look for answers about who he is.
“Let me tell you something. Funny enough, I was left in the year … I usually tell this story, and I laugh,” Muchina Malomba said in a podcast on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
He explained that the rejection came in a direct and hurtful way. According to him, the words used during the moment stayed with him and affected how he felt about himself. He said the experience marked the start of a new chapter in his life.

“Someone left me akaniambia, ‘Ah, wewe, sikutaki bwana. Wewe mshamba wa Bungoma, sitaki mambo yako. Ouch,” he said.
Search for identity
Muchina Malomba said that the rejection made him start travelling in a different way. He explained that he wanted to understand himself better and find out why he was feeling that way. According to him, travel became part of his healing process.
“That is how I started travelling in a very weird way,” he explained.

He said that when someone is rejected, it can affect self-esteem deeply. According to him, this was the main reason he chose to go on a journey of discovery. He explained that the experience pushed him to ask important questions about his life.
“Unajua mtu akikukataa it messes up with your self-esteem,” Muchina Malomba said.
He added that travelling helped him learn more about himself. According to him, the more he travelled, the more he understood who he is. He said this helped him grow in ways he did not expect at the beginning.
“That is how I started travelling. So I think travelling is how I discovered who I am,” he said.
Muchina Malomba explained that his experiences inspired him to create group trips. He said he wanted others to also benefit from travel and self-discovery. According to him, these trips help people interact with different individuals and open their minds.
