The Head of Customer Care Department in Nairobi County Geoffrey Mosiria has come out narrating how her recent meet-up with Environmental activist Truphena Muthoni had him thinking of his past frustrating job in the environment sector.

In a long post on his official X account on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, Mosiria, while commending Truphena’s recent 72-hour-long hour hugging feat he noted how his past job drained him.

“Today, I met a young Gen Z lady who deeply moved me. Her name is Truphena Muthoni, the young woman who hugged a tree continuously for 72 hours as a powerful act of environmental protest and awareness,” Mosiria said.

On his part, Mosiria revealed how hectic his role was as he ran up and down trying to stop developers who were cutting down trees indiscriminately, even trees that posed no threat to their developments.

“Meeting her took me back to my own time serving in the environment sector, a period marked by pain and frustration. I remember running up and down, trying to stop developers who were cutting down trees indiscriminately even trees that posed no threat to their developments simply so that the beauty of their buildings could be fully exposed,” he added.

“Truphena shared that her action was a message to the public: a call to protect our environment and to stop the unnecessary destruction of trees. Her patience and resilience during those 72 hours reminded me of an important truth that we must not only plant trees, but also patiently protect and nurture them to maturity,” Mosiria added.

He further explained how keeping a clean and healthy environment gives the poeple the patience and strength to keep going and to survive, regardless of the state of the economy.

“Trees are essential. They clean the air we breathe and sustain life. Her courage also reminded me that a clean and healthy environment gives us the patience and strength to keep going and to survive, regardless of the state of the economy,” Mosiria narrated.

“This is a call to all of us: let us conserve, protect, and grow our trees for our present and for future generations,” he added.
