Maina Kageni sends emotional message after death of radio presenter Diblo Kaberia

Veteran radio presenter Maina Kageni has emotionally mourned the death of Radio Jambo presenter and commentator Diblo Kaberia, describing him as a talented, passionate and highly committed media personality.

Maina shared his tribute on Facebook on Sunday, May 24, 2026, shortly after news of Diblo Kaberia’s death emerged, expressing shock and sadness over the loss of the broadcaster whom he praised for his contribution to radio.

In his emotional message, Maina remembered the late presenter as an exciting voice on air whose energy and dedication made him stand out among listeners and colleagues alike.

“What a loss😢. He was talented, passionate and committed… an exciting presenter and commentator,” Maina wrote.

The veteran media personality further noted that Diblo was deeply passionate about his work and remained committed to entertaining and informing audiences through radio broadcasting and commentary.

Maina also extended his condolences to Diblo Kaberia’s family, friends and colleagues, saying the broadcaster’s death marks a painful loss within the media industry.

“A moment of silence as we mourn the passing of a colleague… just got the news that Diblo Kaberia of Radio Jambo has passed on,” he added.

In his farewell message, he thanked the late presenter for his contribution to radio and the impact he created throughout his broadcasting career, adding that his work and memories would continue living on among those who knew and listened to him.

“My very sincere condolences to friend and family…. thank you for everything you did on radio Diblo… tutaonana baadaye,” he wrote.

Hassan’s tribute

On his part, Swahili news presenter Hassan Mwana Wa Ali also emotionally mourned Diblo Kaberia’s death, describing the loss as painful and difficult to comprehend.

In his tribute, Hassan reflected on the unpredictability of life and admitted that it had taken him time to gather the strength to react after receiving news of the broadcaster’s death.

“What really is the value of this life? It has taken me some time to write this message since I received this heartbreaking news. A deep cloud of sorrow. The shadow of death. My friend Diblo Kaberia Elmago, rest in peace,” he wrote.

He further remembered Diblo as a close friend who often accompanied him through areas such as Seasons, Kahawa Wendani, Kasarani, Roysambu and Mwiki, saying the late sports commentator was known for his humour and ability to make people laugh.

Hassan also termed Diblo’s death a huge loss to the journalism industry, particularly within the sports broadcasting sector, where the late presenter had built his name as a respected football commentator and analyst.

“Who will now take me around Seasons, Kahawa Wendani, Kasarani, Roysambu, Mwiki and other places while making me laugh endlessly? Farewell, my close friend. This is a Sunday that will forever be remembered. Truly, what God plans is what happens. God’s plan never makes mistakes. This is a journey we shall all take one day,” he wrote.

The journalist additionally prayed for strength and patience for Diblo’s family as they cope with the painful loss, while also praying for mercy and eternal peace for the late broadcaster.

“May God give strength and patience to the family of the deceased. Football commentator Diblo has gone ahead of us. We continue praying for God’s mercy upon him, and for us who are still alive to also have a good ending. This is a painful loss to the entire journalism industry, especially the sports department. We are all on this journey. Rest in peace,” he added.
