Mad G credits Gody Tennor for helping him access top producers and industry links

Arbantone artiste Mad G has publicly praised fellow musician Gody Tennor, describing him as one of the most selfless figures in Nairobi’s music scene and crediting him for playing a key role in shaping his career.

Speaking in a TikTok video on Sunday, April 26, 2026, Mad G said Gody Tennor stood out because of his willingness to help other artistes without expecting anything in return. He noted that, in his view, such character is rare in the current music industry.

“This is the only artiste I rank and appreciate in Nairobi,” the ‘Wakudumu’ hitmaker said.

Mad G explained that Gody Tennor had personally connected him to several producers, including Sound Craft and Mavo on the Beat, opportunities he said significantly boosted his exposure and growth as an artiste.

He added that beyond studio connections, Gody Tennor had also introduced him to key industry spaces and networks that helped him establish himself further in the competitive Nairobi music scene.

“He took us to many producers, including Sound Craft and even took us to Mavo on the Beat. What I am speaking about is the selflessness,” he added.

According to Mad G, the support he received went beyond professional networking, describing it as genuine selflessness and a desire to see others succeed. He said he believes that kind of attitude is what more artistes should embrace in order to grow the industry collectively.

He further expressed gratitude by revealing that he now intends to reciprocate the gesture by taking Goddy Tennor abroad, as a way of appreciating his contribution to his musical journey.

Mad G emphasised that, in his experience, Gody Tennor remains the only artiste he fully recognises and respects within his Nairobi music circles due to his consistent support and mentorship.

“He is a guy who wants to see you win. And that is how we artistes should be nowadays. He gave me all those connections, and now for my turn, I plan to take him abroad,” he shared.

Nairobi’s evolving Arbantone voices

Gody Tennor is a Nairobi-based musician associated with the fast-rising Arbantone sound, a street-driven genre blending Gengetone energy with modern urban rhythms and digital-age storytelling.

Over time, he has built a reputation not only as a performer but also as a connector within the music ecosystem, frequently working behind the scenes to link upcoming artistes with producers, studios, and performance opportunities.

While he may not always dominate mainstream charts as a solo hitmaker, Gody Tennor is credited with influencing a number of underground and collaborative projects that circulate heavily on TikTok, YouTube, and street DJ mixes. His style leans toward energetic hooks, street narratives, and collaborative anthems that reflect Nairobi’s youth culture.

On the other hand, Mad G is an Arbantone artiste who initially rose through collective music movements before breaking away to pursue a solo career.

He was formerly part of the Wakudumu Clan, a group associated with the early wave of Arbantone performers who gained popularity through online platforms and street performances.

His time in the group helped him establish a foundation in collaborative music creation, where he developed his performance identity and gained exposure within Nairobi’s growing urban music scene. After exiting the group, Mad G transitioned into a solo path, where he has continued to build his brand around raw street energy, authenticity, and personal storytelling.
