Content creator Lydia Wanjiru has expressed concern over the late Betty Bayo’s daughter, Sky, and her presence on social media.

Wanjiru said she supports the idea that Sky should stay away from the internet until she is an adult. She added that Sky was exposed too early, and now it may be too late to set such boundaries.

Wanjiru questioned why adults would ask Sky such personal questions online.

“I don’t want to ask what her close family thinks about her presence online and how they handle such situations where she has to explain such things herself,” she said.

She ended her statement with a prayer, saying, “God protect her.”

Sky should be protected from online pressure

Wanjiru’s concerns highlight the challenges children face when exposed to social media too early. She explained that Sky’s early exposure could have long-term effects on her well-being.

According to Wanjiru, it is worrying that adults sometimes ask children questions that they are not ready to answer. She emphasised the importance of protecting children from online pressures.

She said, “Unfortunately, she was exposed too early, and I think it’s too late now to enforce such a boundary now!”

Wanjiru’s statement comes at a time when many parents are debating how much access children should have to the internet. She stressed that a child’s safety and privacy should come first.

Betty Bayo, Sky’s mother, was a renowned musician best known for her hit song 11th Hour. Betty passed away after battling acute leukaemia and excessive bleeding.

Her condition worsened in her final days, and she was first admitted to AAR Hospital on Kiambu Road before being transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital. She died at 1:03 pm on Monday.

Her funeral was held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at her home in Mugumo Estate. Betty’s green casket was lowered into a grave covered with white tiles in front of her family members and close friends. The loss of Betty Bayo has left her daughter, Sky, in the public eye, which has led to Wanjiru voicing her concerns.
