Lydia Wanjiru has opened up on personal struggles that pushed her to undergo a Brazilian Butt Lift surgery (BBL).

She shared a video of an interview with an international media house on her Instagram account, lifting the lid on the aftermath, sharing that the pain was intense, especially during the first week.

If you are not ready for the first week of pain, don’t do it because you can’t stand straight, you can’t bend, you can’t sit, and you can’t sleep…you don’t even have the strength to cry,” she said in the video posted on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

How celebrities shaped her decision

Undergoing the cosmetic procedure was on her bucket list for a long time.

She admitted that foreign celebrities shaped her decision, saying that she has always wanted BBL and was motivated by those who shared their experiences.

“I have always wanted a BBL, live five years ago when these Hollywood or these international stars started coming out and saying, ‘ You know I’ve done this, I’ve done this. ”

The influencer narrated that she lost weight in August 2025 and was left with loose skin that she wanted to work on.

She shared that people presented her with countless suggestions on how to make the loose skin disappear, including the options of lifting weights and going to the gym.

However, she questioned how long that would take and if results were guaranteed.

“How long, if I hadn’t lost weight through that gym so why are you taking me back to the gym?” She questioned.

She eventually went for the procedure after researching and consulting extensively.

Fears amid BBL surgery complications and deaths

With cases of some developing complications during the surgery and even death, Wanjiru confirmed that she had her fears.

Yes, I had fears, and that’s why I went to different surgeons for consultations before I settled with mine,” she added.

Among the things she checked was the doctor’s record, noting that many people don’t look at the professionalism of a doctor or their history.
