Rapper and life coach Kush Tracey has opened up about her personal struggles with alcohol, revealing how daily drinking affected both her personal and professional life.

In an interview with radio personality Alex Mwakideu on Tuesday, January 21, 2026, she spoke about the challenges she faced while trying to balance her career, social life, and mental health.

Kush Tracey explained that her relationship with alcohol began as a way to cope with stress and social pressures. “I loved being high, but I got to a place where I would drink alone,” she admitted.

She described how she would carry vapes and alcohol in her bag, often taking them before going on air or attending events, seeking a rush that temporarily masked her anxieties.

How drinking became a crutch

The rapper reflected on the toll her substance use took on her daily life. She said that she had developed habits that affected her decision-making and interactions with others.

“I would literally not engage in certain situations unless I was intoxicated,” she shared. Kush Tracey explained that alcohol became a crutch that allowed her to socialise and feel comfortable around people, but it also created unhealthy dependencies.

Despite the challenges, the Huwezi ni dandia hit maker emphasised that acknowledging the problem was the first step toward recovery.

“That was one of the hardest things to do, to accept and admit that I was actually struggling with substances,” she said.

She added that she drank every day, not just on weekends, which made it difficult to maintain a consistent lifestyle and focus on her music.

Kush Tracey also reflected on the emotional and psychological impact of her alcohol use.

The rapper said that while drinking gave her temporary relief, it ultimately created cycles of stress, isolation, and regret.

The revelation comes days after the rapper and life coach celebrated three years of sobriety, a milestone she marked by reflecting on her journey of healing and restoration.

She shared that stepping away from alcohol and other substances was not about sudden strength, but about confronting deep emotional pain and choosing honesty, faith, and personal healing over numbing her struggles.
