Karangu Muraya urges artistes to rally behind Gachathi wa Thuo amid looming auction
By Steve Ireri, December 8, 2025Kigooco singer and Facebook influencer Karangu Muraya has appealed to both secular and gospel artistes to stand with Gachathi wa Thuo, who is facing a financial crisis that threatens his home, car, and land.
In a post shared on Facebook on Monday, December 8, 2025, Muraya revealed that Thuo, who received Christ as his personal saviour several years ago, had made the decision to stop performing in clubs, a choice that brought challenges in settling outstanding financial obligations, including a bank loan.
“Sometimes, Life is so challenging….my brother Gachathi wa Thuo received Christ as his personal saviour some years back. As a matter of fact, before then, he was doing so well on his Mugithi, but the first decision that he made was to stop performing in clubs. Having made such a decision, his new route came with a lot of challenges, and he was unable to settle his bills, one of them being a bank loan that he took from one lending institution,” Karangu wrote.

Muraya highlighted that Thuo’s personal car was recently repossessed and sold at auction to offset part of the loan, while his own house, situated in the same compound as his parents’ home, is at risk of being auctioned over a remaining Ksh3 million balance.
The musician’s acre of land, valued at over Ksh20 million, is also under threat.
“Some weeks ago, his personal car was repossessed, and it was sold by an auctioneer to settle the loan. His own house, which is in the same compound as his parents’ house, is set to be auctioned just because of the 3 million balance that he owes the bank. He is just to lose an acre piece of land which has a valuation of more than 20 Million, just because of 3M,” Karangu added.
In his post, Muraya outlined a plan to mobilise the artistic community and fans, proposing that if 3,000 supporters contributed Ksh1,000 each, the debt could be cleared promptly.
He confirmed that several musicians, including Samidoh, Jose Gatutura and Muigai wa Njoroge, had already pledged to attend a meeting scheduled for that evening at Elysian Hotel along Kiambu Road to discuss ways of supporting Thuo.
“Dear artists….both secular and gospel… Gachathi wa Thuo is one of us. I have an idea, if 3000 artists and fun decide to support him with 1k only, our brother will settle the loan before the end of the day,” he said.
Muraya urged artistes and fans to spread the word and contribute financially or offer practical advice to help Thuo navigate the crisis.
He described the initiative as a collective effort to ensure a fellow musician could rise again despite financial setbacks, stressing that the support of the community could prevent the auctioning of valuable assets.
“My senior brother, Jose Gatutura, has reached out to me and gave me a very brilliant idea. Due to the urgency of our brother Gachathi wa Thuo’s issue, we have decided to have a meeting tonight at the Kiambu Road Elysian Hotel at 7:00 pm. We are requesting all artists and friends of Gachathi to come as we deliberate on how to support our brother. Please tag your favourite artist and tell them to make efforts so we can meet in the evening,” he added.

Thuo, according to Muraya, has requested assistance not only to settle the immediate debt but also to receive guidance on long-term financial management, making this an urgent call for solidarity within Kenya’s music fraternity.
“He has requested me to share his story here; maybe he can get someone who can advise on how to go about it…. Dear friends, let’s support him financially and also with ideas, and he will be grateful ….please reach out to him or support him through his number,” he wrote.
