Former State House spokesperson Kanze Dena has rubbished claims that she is unwell.

Over the past few months, Kenyans have been speculating that she was battling cancer something Kanze has denied.

Several social media posts went viral claiming Kanze was suffering from throat cancer. In an interview, Kanze cleared the air stating that she had not been unwell.

“I am not unwell, I have no idea why people would want to say such things about me, but I guess people have to make money, it’s unfortunate that’s the way people would want to have clicks and to make money, but it’s the world we live in. I am very much okay,” Kanze Dena shared.

The discussion with Kanze went further as she opened up about her pregnancy saying that she felt it would have been a disappointment to her parents for getting pregnant out of wedlock.

“As soon as I found out, my first thought was I was going to die. I had a harsh mother and here I was pregnant out of wedlock. I never became pregnant while in school, I became pregnant after graduating from high school,” Kanze Dena said.

Since she was registered for both Secretariat and IT Colleges, Kanze Dena booked herself into a hostel instead of commuting home so that she would be able to hide her pregnancy.

The media personality added that she hid her pregnancy from her mother who was very strict at the time.

As Kanze recounted, her mum visited her during labour, not knowing she’d just given birth; she wished the ground would swallow her.

At that moment, she also thought about adoption, but when she held her baby, they formed a bond.

“I had set my mind I was giving away the child. My friend from college called my aunt who was working at Kenya Bus near Pumwani. My auntie called my Mom and planned to come. I gave birth at, midnight and the following day I went to shower and my bed was close to the door, I came back and saw two ladies standing at the entrance and they looked familiar, and saw my Mother and her sister and I didn’t have words and my mother noticed I was in shock,” Kanze said.

Later, her mother requested Kanze to go back and finish her studies as she took care of her newborn baby, but unfortunately, the girl died at only 3 months old.
