Kamau Watoria sounds alarm as mass exits hit Kiengei’s church
By Charles Ouma, March 5, 2026Social media personality Kamau Watoria Joseph has sounded the alarm over high-profile exits from Bishop Ben Kiengei’s Jesus Compassion Ministry in the recent past.
Joseph listed several members of the church who exited quietly, noting that all is not well at the church that gained fame rapidly due to the profile of its charismatic founder and vibrant services that attracted thousands.
He walked back to 2023 when Kiengei had just launched JCM before the exodus from the church started, with many choosing not to say why they left.
“In the past 3 years, since JCM kuanzwa, tumeona significant changes, ups and downs. Wengi wamejoin na pia wengine wakajitoa, but a big question ni mbona wajitoe bila kutushow reason? Let’s get back to 2023,” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

He listed several prominent persons who stood with Kiengei in the initial days of his ministry before walking away, never to return within a short period of time.
The exits shook the church, leaving Kiengei as a general without foot soldiers, with Watoria opining that the mass exits point to deeper troubles that many of those who left did not say.
Allies make silent exits
He also focused on the recent wave of resignations that have hit the church after Kiengei rolled out the red carpet for President William Ruto as he celebrated the third anniversary of the ministry.
“Recently hata two weeks haijaisha, artist Charles Wachira alijitoa time Ruto alikuwa anavisit JCM HQs though huyu alisema reason yake, na yenye ilikuwa hangekaa church haifulfill desires za waseeh, then today comes Njoroge James the guy amekuwa mtrue huku, but pia yeye hajastate clearly reason yake ya kujitoa. Then mapema, mapema, who is next? Mambo haiendi poa hata kidogo,” he added.

High-ranking members of JCM made the decision to quit the church, marking another chapter in its history amid mounting criticism over the decision by its founder to host Ruto.
Resignations hit JCM
Pastor Charles Wachira of Jesus Christ Compassion Ministry (JCM) USA is among those who resigned over what he described as serious concerns regarding leadership principles and public engagements that have unsettled many believers, particularly young people.
In yet another blow to the charismatic preacher, Pastor James Njoroge announced his exit, making it clear that no member of his family would serve in the church moving forward.
“I have been soul-searching myself, and I have seen it worthy to step down from the church. This comes as a polite notice that henceforth, I, Njoroge James, and my family will no longer serve in JCM,” he stated on Facebook on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
