Gospel singer Justina Syokau has made a heartfelt appeal to voters in Machakos County just days after announcing her intention to vie for the Woman Representative seat in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in a video shared on TikTok on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Syokau declared that she considers herself an honourable leader and is ready to represent the people of Machakos in Parliament.

“Right now, I consider myself an honourable leader, and I am vying for the Machakos Woman Representative seat in 2027. So, when you look at me, know that you are looking at the incoming Machakos Woman Rep,” Syokau said.

She assured voters that her primary focus will be on improving access to essential support services for residents and ensuring that school-going children benefit from education funding programmes.

“To my people of Machakos, I am telling you this: I promise that I will support you and do everything possible to ensure you receive the help you need. To our school-going children, I will make sure you always have easy access to funds that support your education,” she said.

Syokau further emphasised her dedication to women’s empowerment, promising initiatives that will directly support women in the county.

She highlighted her intention to engage with constituents on the ground and noted that she will be accompanied by First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto during her community visits.

“As Syokau, I will also support women and work to empower them. I will be coming to the areas where you live, and I will be accompanied by the First Lady, Mama Rachel Ruto,” she shared.

She also confirmed her alignment with the ruling party, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), led by President William Ruto, signalling her political affiliation and the backing of the party in her upcoming campaign.

“Her husband, President William Ruto, is our UDA party leader, which means I am also a member of the United Democratic Alliance,” she added.

Ambitious politician

The ‘Twenty-Twenty’ hitmaker officially announced her bid for the Machakos County Women Representative seat on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

Speaking during an interview with a local media station, Syokau said her ambition is rooted in a desire to give back to the people of Machakos County.

She highlighted her ongoing work with initiatives that support the girl child, noting that her efforts extend beyond her immediate community.

“I want to be the woman representative for Machakos County. I have been giving back to Machakos through initiatives for the girl child, not only within my immediate community,” Syokau announced.

“If the people elect me, I will lead with wisdom. One thing is that God has allowed me to go through hardships so that I can support others. I am an orphan; my mother passed away, and my father is alive, but I have faced many challenges. I went to school without sanitary pads and had to use cloth instead.”

She emphasised that her leadership will focus on both girls and boys, ensuring children receive education, and parents are empowered with ways to support their children’s learning.

“So, I will help both girls and boys. I will ensure that people in Machakos County have access to education, and I will also assist parents in knowing the easiest ways to educate their children. I sincerely ask people to support me, and when you see me, please start calling me ‘Honourable’, from now on, call me the ‘Woman Representative of Machakos’,” she urged.
