‘I am engaged’ – Kemunto announces days after breaking up with Iyanii
By Valerian Khakayi, March 29, 2026Social media influencer and personality Diana Kemunto has announced that she is now engaged, just days after parting ways with popular musician Ian Okwemba Oure, widely known as Iyanii.
Speaking during an interview with local YouTubers on Sunday, March 29, 2026, Kemunto reflected on how quickly life can change, adding that after her short-lived relationship with Iyanii, she was open to being in another relationship.
“I am engaged. Nilikuwa soko, and now I am engaged; that is how fast life goes,” Kemunto announced.
She also addressed why she had not shared details about her engagement online, explaining that past experiences had taught her to be more cautious.
“The last time I made a mistake was in public so I did not want to repeat the mistake,” she added, hinting at her decision to keep her private life off social media for now.
When asked if she would post about her fiancé in the future, Kemunto jokingly said that she would only post parts of his body.
“Mtakuwa mkiona kidole moja, sikio na nikienda sana kisongo,” Kemunto said.

Failed marriage
The announcement comes days after she opened up about her experience in a come-we-stay marriage at a tender age.
Speaking during a candid conversation at a local podcast, Kemunto revealed that she entered the relationship at just 18, without a clear picture of marriage.
“I was in a come-we-stay marriage from 2016, and it ended in 2020. I was 18 years old, just after high school,” Kemunto revealed.
“Hiyo mwaka ya kumaliza shule, nilipata ball baba yangu akaniambia niende nikae kwa huyo mwanamume.“
Additionally, she said that at the time, she believed she was stepping into a marriage, though she had no formal ceremony or documentation.

Instead, her life became centred on running the household, raising her son, cooking, and fulfilling what she describes as her wifey duties.
“I stayed with him; I always thought it was marriage because I did not have a picture of marriage back then. I was just a housewife, sikuwa na kazi sikuwa na anything, just raising my son and cooking for my man, I was very wifey,” she added.
In addition, the social media influencer further narrated that what ultimately pushed her to leave was the toxic nature of the relationship.
“It was a very toxic relationship; I could not continue with it because it was affecting my son and my parents,” she revealed.
“In 2020 I was like no Iam tired. nilikuwa naenda na pigwa na rudi na pigwa and then one day I was like no it is enough, let me just go, I packed and left.”
