Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has urged residents to show compassion and understanding toward their struggling neighbours.

In a statement shared on his X account on Saturday, March 14, 2026, Mosiria urged Kenyans not to be upset by the morning sounds of pots and plates, explaining that these noises often come from families trying to feed their hungry children after a long night of hardship.

“DON’T CRY!! Please don’t feel upset if a neighbour woke you this morning with the sound of a sufuria and plates. It’s not because they wanted to disturb you; it’s because they slept hungry, and their children cried through the night,” Mosiria wrote.

He described the painful reality many face: scraping the last bits of ugali from a pot last used days ago, while carrying eviction notices for rent arrears and suffering the burden of months without work.

“This morning is even more painful for them because they have been served a notice to vacate their home for rent arrears, and they have been jobless for more than three months,” he added.

Mosiria reminded those annoyed by their neighbours’ cooking noises that they might once have chased hungry children away from their own delicious-smelling meals.

“Their children even tried to reach for the food, but you chased them away, saying it might make them sick. In truth, it was selfishness, and those children went back crying to empty stomachs.”

He also criticised elected leaders, saying they have forgotten the people who voted for them, viewing citizens only as tools to win elections rather than as human beings deserving dignity and care.

“The leaders you elected are busy recovering the money you asked them to give you in exchange for your vote. Now see how they have forgotten you,” Mosiria stated.

Despite the challenges, Mosiria encouraged unity and kindness, urging Kenyans to share what little they have and to vote for leaders who genuinely care.

“We can make life better for one another by showing love, sharing what little we have, and voting for leaders who truly have our interests at heart,” he said.

Adding

“To those suffering, who went to bed hungry or couldn’t sleep last night: don’t give up. Remember to pray to God, and He will open new doors for you. Your day is coming. IPO SIKU.”
