Fetty Wap announces first album since prison release
By William Muthama, March 17, 2026Rapper Fetty Wap has officially announced his first album since being released from prison, marking a major step in the rapper’s return to the music industry.
In an Instagram post on Monday night, March 16, 2026, the 34-year-old rapper revealed that his fourth studio album, Zavier, is scheduled to be released on Friday, March 27, 2026, signalling the start of a new chapter in his career.
In the video, the rapper reflects on his personal journey, speaking about fame, identity and the challenges he faced while away from the spotlight.
“When you lose the money, everybody thinks that’s the worst part,” Fetty Wap says in the clip. “When it gets really quiet, that’s when it hits different.” He continues by explaining how the fame surrounding his stage persona sometimes overshadowed who he truly was as a person. “Somewhere in all that, I became a character in my own life,” he adds, describing how the quiet moments helped him reconnect with himself.

The announcement comes roughly two and a half months after the rapper was released from prison in January. Fetty Wap served more than three years of a six-year sentence after pleading guilty in August 2022 to conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances. He was later sentenced in May 2023.
Career highlights and achievements
Despite the setback, Fetty Wap remains one of the most recognisable hip-hop artists of the 2010s. He rose to global fame in 2015 with his breakout single Trap Queen, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned him two nominations at the Grammy Awards.

His self-titled debut album, Fetty Wap, also produced several hit singles, including 679 and My Way, both of which reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Now back home, the rapper says he is focused on rebuilding his career and reconnecting with fans. According to reports, the upcoming album will feature 17 tracks and serve as a reflection of growth and a fresh start.
Following the album’s release, Fetty Wap also plans to perform several “welcome home” shows across the United States, giving fans the chance to celebrate his long-awaited return to the stage.
