Everything you need to know before watching ‘Ready or Not 2: Here I Come’

By , March 23, 2026

The horror-comedy movie Ready or Not 2: Here I Come premiered on Friday, March 20, 2026, picking up right where the 2019 cult hit left off, so if you watched the first film, you’ll slide right back into the story without needing much catching up.

Samara Weaving returns as Grace, the bride who survived a deadly hide-and-seek game with her sinister in-laws.

This time, the stakes are higher. Grace must protect her estranged sister Faith while being hunted by multiple elite families vying for a shadowy “throne.”

The story quickly escalates into a chaotic, blood-soaked game of cat-and-mouse across twisted family rivalries.

Cast carries the film

Much of the sequel’s charm comes from its cast. Weaving continues to shine, balancing panic, dark humour, and survival instinct.

Newton adds fresh energy, giving the sibling dynamic emotional weight. Elijah Wood’s devilish advocate adds menace, while cameos from new family members, including Sarah Michelle Gellar, keep things lively.

The chemistry works well, especially in quieter moments before the carnage erupts.

Visually, the film ramps up the horror. The kills are inventive and stylised, the gore more graphic, and the production values feel bigger.

The hide-and-seek concept evolves into elaborate chases, traps, and large-scale set pieces that sustain suspense throughout.

The soundtrack by Sven Faulconer, with themes from Brian Tyler, blends orchestral tension, synths, and haunting songs, heightening both the horror and emotional beats.

Where it falls short

The biggest flaw is predictability. While the film is bloody and fast-paced, it’s not particularly frightening, and many plot twists feel safe.

The middle drags slightly, and the humour occasionally becomes repetitive. Grace’s moral dilemmas hint at depth but never fully land.

Ready or Not 2 is entertaining, stylish, and fun, but it plays it safe. Fans of the original will enjoy more of the twisted wedding-night chaos, laughs, and Weaving’s star power, though horror fans may find it less scary than expected.

Rating: 6.5/10 – Very predictable and not especially frightening for a horror sequel, but still a fun, blood-soaked ride.
