Christmas 2025: Dem Wa Facebook appeals for a shift towards thoughtful festive gifting
By Steve Ireri, December 19, 2025Comedienne Dem Wa Facebook has marked the festive season by spending time in Nairobi’s central business district, where she chose to celebrate the period with women living on the streets instead of doing so privately at home.
Speaking while in the city centre in a video shared on 2Mbili’s YouTube channel on Friday, December 19, 2025, Dem Wa Facebook said she was in Nairobi to spread festive cheer during the Christmas season by surprising vulnerable women who live on the streets.
“Merry Christmas to us all. I know we are already in the festive mood. I am in Nairobi, and that is why I have come out to the streets today, because I want to surprise people,” she said.
She explained that although Christmas Day is still days away, the festive mood had already set in and she wanted to be part of sharing that spirit early.
“I am in the Nairobi CBD, and I want to celebrate the season with women who live on the streets here,” the comedienne added.

She said her decision was driven by the belief that the season should be about more than personal enjoyment, adding that rather than staying indoors to eat and celebrate alone, she found it more meaningful to spend time with women living on the streets, wish them well for the festive period and the coming year, and share what she could with them.
The content creator said she carried food and other items, which she personally distributed to the women as part of the early festive celebration.
“Instead of staying in the house, eating and enjoying food on my own, I decided to come out and spend time with these women, wish them well for the festive season and the new year, and share what I can with them. I have brought them food and other items, and we are celebrating the season together,” she shared.
She described the moment as an opportunity to connect with them, spend time together and acknowledge them during a season associated with togetherness and goodwill.
On that note, she also encouraged Kenyans to embrace generosity during the festive season, saying that anyone who is able can step out and share with others in their own way.
“Wherever you are, you can also do the same. I have gifts for them, and we are celebrating this season together,” she said.
