Wahu Kagwi gets emotional as last-born daughter prepares for first day of school

Wahu on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, shared her feelings with her followers, admitting that she has been cherishing the time she has spent with her daughter before the major transition.
“Tomorrow is Shishi’s first day of school & I’m all up in my feelings,” Wahu wrote.
The mother of three revealed that she has been intentionally enjoying the moments she has shared with Shishi, including the everyday chaos that comes with having a young child at home.
“I’ve really been savouring each moment & each day spent with her,” she said.
While balancing work and motherhood has not always been easy, Wahu said she has come to appreciate having her daughter around, even when working from home became challenging.
“And though sometimes it’s hard to work from home with a little person around…I think I’ve really enjoyed the chaos,” she wrote.
The singer appeared amused by the thought of her young daughter now having to wake up early for school, imagining how different their routine would soon become.
“Ati shishi atakua akiamka mapema kuenda shule,” Wahu said.
She also acknowledged that the first days of school were likely to be emotional and challenging for both her and her daughter.
“The first days will be dramatic for sure,” she wrote.
Wahu admitted that she had expected to welcome the quiet that would come once Shishi started school, particularly because it would give her more uninterrupted time to work.
“I thought I’d be ready for the silence in the house so that I could get some work done in peace…but now I don’t know…” she said.
The singer then asked her followers to check on her as she navigates the emotional transition.
“Check on me tomorrow, guys,” Wahu wrote.
She also reached out to other parents who may have experienced similar emotions when their children began school.
“Any other parent who suffered separation blues when their child started school?” she asked.
Wahu’s post highlights the bittersweet emotions many parents experience when their children reach major milestones, as excitement about a new chapter is accompanied by the realisation that familiar routines and daily moments together are about to change.
