Stoopid Boy’s burial underway in Nyandarua despite Siaya request
By Valerian Khakayi, September 16, 2026The burial of Kenyan Arbantone artiste Stoopid Boy is currently underway in Miharati, Kipipiri, Nyandarua County, nearly three weeks after his death.
The late musician, whose real name was Edgar Odhiambo Ochieng, died on August 27, 2026, leaving behind two young children.
His final send-off comes after weeks of uncertainty surrounding where he would be laid to rest, with his maternal and paternal families previously holding different positions over his burial.
Earlier, Stoopid Boy’s father, George William Ochieng Awili, had insisted that his son should be buried at the family’s ancestral home in Alego, Siaya.
The father said he wanted to honour a wish the musician had repeatedly shared before his death.

“I just want to fulfil my son’s wishes. He told me that my dad, if I die, take me to my home in Siaya,” Ochieng said.
He added: “I have to fulfil my son’s wishes; I want the body of my son to be in Alego Siaya.”
The family dispute had initially prevented burial arrangements from proceeding, with a court case also delaying the release of Stoopid Boy’s body from the mortuary.
Burial arrangements resumed
Stoopid Boy’s mother later revealed that the legal dispute had been resolved after the case filed by the rapper’s father’s side was withdrawn.
Speaking on Tuesday, September 15, the mother said the development allowed the family to proceed with the burial after the artiste’s body had remained at the mortuary for almost a month.
“Today we had come to clear the mortuary bill. And it was not easy,” she said.
She explained that the family had previously been unable to collect the body or raise funds for the burial because of the court case.
“As you all are aware, there was a court case, and that case is what had barred us from making burial arrangements for our son. And we were not able to pick up his body or even raise money,” she said.

The mother said the family decided to hasten the burial after the case was withdrawn.
“And that is when we decided, because Stoopid Boy has stayed here in the mortuary for almost a month, we thought we should rush the burial,” she said.
She also disclosed that the family received financial assistance from a well-wisher identified as Stazo, who helped clear the mortuary bill and paid for the vehicle transporting the body.
“He paid the mortuary bill and even paid for the burial vehicle,” she said.
The family also received support from media personality Oga Obinna, who helped them secure a coffin for the late artiste.
“And I also want to thank Oga Obinna for aiding with getting the coffin,” she said.
With the arrangements completed, Stoopid Boy is now being laid to rest in Miharati, Nyandarua, as family, friends and fans gather to bid him farewell.
