Sonko’s daughter Sandra finally reveals why Kai Cenat rejected her Streamer University application
By Steve Ireri, June 24, 2026Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s daughter Sandra Mbuvi has finally opened up on what went wrong before popular American streamer Kai Cenat declined her application to join the first edition of Streamer University.
Speaking during an IRL livestream with Kenyan content creator Vindee, who recently applied for the 2026 edition of the programme, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, Sandra revisited her own experience with the application process and explained how she came to realise that Vindee’s outcome was different from hers.
Sandra carefully reviewed an email Vendee had received from the Streamer University team before concluding that the Kenyan creator had actually been accepted into the programme.
According to Sandra, the wording of the email clearly showed that Vendee had progressed beyond the application stage and was already being guided through the enrolment process.
“If you see here that Kai Cenat sent you a fee structure, that means you were accepted. You see what they are saying. They are saying that your application has been received and reviewed and that you can proceed with the enrolment process,” Sandra said.
Sandra explained that, unlike Vindee, she had received a direct rejection message from the organisers.
“For me, I remember when I applied last year, they said that we had declined your offer. It was before your time. That means you were accepted,” she said while referring to Vindee’s case.

The social media personality further pointed out that the email sent to Vindee included details about enrolment fees and requests for additional information, which she believes would only be sent to successful applicants.
“For real, see, they are talking about the enrolment fee, and they asked about your address. I have my email, the one they sent me declining, too. You were accepted. All you need now is to pay the fee,” she added.
Her remarks appeared to suggest that the major difference between her application and Vendee’s was that she received a clear rejection notice while Vendee received instructions related to enrolment.
Sandra’s comments come as excitement continues to build around the second edition of Streamer University, an initiative launched by Kai Cenat to identify, train and mentor emerging digital creators from around the world.
The programme combines elements of a college experience and a creator bootcamp, bringing together selected content creators for classes, networking opportunities and mentorship sessions focused on content creation, audience growth and monetisation.
The first edition of Streamer University was held in 2025 and attracted global attention after hundreds of aspiring creators applied for a limited number of spots.
Notably, only one African creator was accepted into Streamer University 1.0. Nigerian comedian and content creator Shank Comics made history after being selected by Kai Cenat and later became one of the standout personalities at the event.
Shank represented Africa among the selected creators and gained widespread attention through his interactions during the programme. He also won a $10,000 cash prize during the event and later saw his popularity on streaming platforms grow significantly.
