Sharp boy: Harmonize reveals how he learnt to speak English
By Valerian Khakayi, June 10, 2026Tanzanian singer Rajabu Abdulkahali Ibrahim, known professionally as Harmonize, has opened up about his journey in learning to speak English, revealing that he never studied the language in school but instead taught himself through determination and life experiences.
In a candid interview with digital media in Tanzania, on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, the Konde Music Worldwide boss said he made a personal decision to learn English, despite not having formal training or a teacher guiding him.
“Mimi hata sijaenda shule kusoma English; mimi simjui mtu yeyote ambaye anafundisha kingereza,” Harmonize said.
Harmonize explained that his confidence in speaking English comes from self-belief and consistency, adding that anyone observing him closely can tell he has worked on his communication skills over time.

“I just told myself I want to speak this language. So ukiongea na copy, I am too sharp,” he added.
He also noted that his time in the United States played a major role in shaping the way he speaks English today.
“Kuna time nimekaa US imenifunza vile nazungumza,” he said.
Composing English songs
The artiste further reflected on his journey in the music industry, saying he has achieved a lot and no longer focuses on pleasing everyone.
“Mimi nimefanya vitu vingi sana kwenye game, so sina muda wa kumfurahisha mtu. I do what makes sense to me,” Harmonize said.
Konde Boy also defended his artistic versatility, suggesting that his ability to create English songs that connect with audiences sets him apart.

He also implied that he stands out among Tanzanian artists when it comes to English songs, suggesting that replacing him with another artiste might not produce the same level of success or delivery.
“Kuna muda huwa na sema those people appreciate me enough kwa sababu, wewe ukinitoa hapa, kuna msanii mgani anaweza akaamuka asubuhi na akatunga wimbo wa kingereza uka hit?“
“Nitoe mimi tu alafu uweke msani yeyote ambie kwa English; atakuchekesha, you understand? That is reality.“
He emphasised that his actions are guided by purpose rather than public approval, adding that he remains unapologetically himself.
“Ukiona nafanya kitu jua tu kina make sense to me, yani mimi sifanyi kitu kwa kumfurahisha mtu yeyote. That’s why you can not bully me; I am being myself,” he emphasised.
