Shame on you: Oga Obinna criticises Kenyans who heckled Karen Nyamu at Natalie Githinji’s event

Oga Obinna has criticised Kenyans who heckled Karen Nyamu during Natalie Githinji’s Endometriosis Warriors event, saying their actions shifted attention away from the purpose of the gathering.

Obinna described the people who heckled the nominated senator as selfish Kenyans, arguing that the event had been organised to create awareness about endometriosis. He said the decision to shout “Wantam” when Nyamu went on stage changed the focus of the event.

“Selfish Kenyans, shame on you. It is not going to be a happy week because of some selfish Kenyans,” Obinna said on Monday, September 28, 2026.

The comedian said Natalie Githinji had organised the event over the weekend to create awareness about endometriosis. He explained that the gathering had a specific purpose before the political chants became part of the proceedings.

Obinna said some Kenyans decided to heckle Nyamu after seeing her get on stage. He said they shouted “Wantam” and appeared pleased after interrupting her, without considering the effect this would have on Githinji’s event.

“Over the weekend, Natalie Githinji was organising a beautiful event to create awareness about endometriosis,” Obinna said.

Obinna said the people who heckled Nyamu had made the event about themselves instead of allowing attention to remain on endometriosis. He questioned whether those who shouted the chants had considered how their actions would affect the purpose of the gathering.

“So in the vent, a bunch of Kenyans decided that when they saw one political determiners of 2027 get on stage, they decided to heckle and shout ‘ wantam ‘,” Obinna said.

He said the people involved may have felt satisfied after successfully heckling Nyamu from the stage. However, Obinna argued that they failed to think about the larger effect of turning the gathering into a political moment.

“And they felt good about themselves, like yeah, we heckled her down, now what you did not think through was how selfish you decided to become,” Obinna said.

Obinna maintained that the event had been organised around endometriosis awareness and should have remained focused on that purpose. He said the chants changed the attention around the gathering and made the political moment more noticeable than the reason for the event.

He concluded by saying that the focus had shifted from endometriosis to the political chants directed at Nyamu. Obinna said the change was caused by the decision to heckle her when she appeared on stage.

“Now the event is not about endo; it is about wantam,” Obinna said.
