Salasya calls on politicians to repent after attending Rhema Feast
By Katemarthason Okudo, September 2, 2026Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has called on politicians to seek God and repent, saying spending time in worship has helped him reflect on his faith and relationship with God.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, Salasya spoke about his experience at the ongoing Rhema Feast in Nairobi, urging politicians to make time for spiritual reflection.
The lawmaker said politicians risk losing sight of their faith because of the demands that come with public life. He encouraged them to seek God whenever they get the opportunity.
“In politics, if you do not repent every time, you can go to hell for free, or you sin against God for free, and He hates you for free. That is why I will continue seeking Him any moment I get an opportunity,” Salasya said.
Salasya praises Rhema Feast
Salasya also attended the Christian gathering on Monday night, August 31, where he joined other worshippers for prayer, worship and biblical teaching.
Reflecting on the experience, the lawmaker said being in a worship setting had a humbling effect on him. He also described Rhema Feast as a blessing.
“There is nothing that humbles me like worship and being in the presence of God. Rhema Feast indeed is a blessing,” he said.
He also praised Reverend Julian Kyula, the founder of Rhema Feast, for organising the five-day gathering, which brings together Christians from different backgrounds for worship and spiritual teaching.
“Pastor Julian Kyula, may God continue to bless you and enlarge your territory for organising such a powerful and transformational gathering as Rhema Feast,” Salasya said.
A spiritual experience
Salasya said the evening left an impression on him, particularly after listening to Bishop JB Masinde speak about personal growth in the spiritual realm.
He described the message as a reminder that Christians should continue seeking deeper levels of faith rather than focusing only on their physical circumstances.
“This evening was truly a divine encounter. Listening to Bishop Masinde speak about upgrading ourselves in the spiritual realm was a powerful reminder that God is constantly calling us into deeper levels of faith, growth, and intimacy with Him,” he said.
The lawmaker also acknowledged that he is not deeply involved in church activities, but said the experience showed him that people can encounter God in unexpected places.
What is Rhema Feast?
Rhema Feast is a non-denominational Christian gathering founded in 2015 by Reverend Julian Kyula under Ruach Assemblies, a ministry of The Purpose Centre Church. The annual event brings together Christians for worship, prayer and biblical teaching.
The 2026 edition is running from August 31 to September 4, 2026, at Uhuru Park in Nairobi under the theme ‘Come, Let Us Rebuild’. The five-day programme features worship sessions, biblical teachings and ministers from Kenya and beyond.
Salasya’s visit adds a political voice to this year’s gathering, with the lawmaker using his experience to encourage leaders and other Kenyans to make time for repentance and spiritual growth.
