Prince Indah appeals for support ahead of Tony Ndiema’s burial
By Valerian Khakayi, July 27, 2026Ohangla musician Evance Ochieng Owino, widely known as Prince Indah, has appealed to fans and friends to continue supporting the family of the late musician Anton Okoth Ochieng, popularly known as Tony Ndiema, by attending a second candle-lighting ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
In a message shared on Monday, July 27, 2026, on his official Instagram account, the singer thanked everyone who turned up for the first candle-lighting event before urging them to join the family once again as they celebrate Tony’s life and honour his memory.
“On behalf of the family, #osiepeindah, thank you for standing with Tony Ndiema’s family during the last candle lighting,” Indah wrote.
He added that the second memorial gathering will be held at Fine Breeze, Dagoretti Corner, where family, friends and supporters are expected to come together in remembrance of Tony.
“Tomorrow, we gather once again to celebrate his life and honour his memory at @fine.breeze – Dagoretti Corner. I humbly request your presence and support one more time as we keep his light burning,” he added.
Tony’s first candle lighting
The appeal comes days after the family and funeral committee thanked Kenyans for the overwhelming support shown during the first candle-lighting ceremony.
In a statement shared by Tony’s brother, Mike Msella, the family expressed gratitude to the hundreds of fans, friends, artists and well-wishers who attended the event, saying their love, prayers and solidarity brought comfort during the difficult period.
“On behalf of Tony Ndiema’s family and the funeral committee, we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who came out in such large numbers to honour our beloved Tony during the candle-lighting ceremony,” Msella wrote.
“To all the fans and friends, your presence, love, prayers, and unwavering support meant more than words can express. Thank you for standing with us and keeping Tony’s memory alive.”
The family also acknowledged the contributions of artists who performed during the ceremony, describing their presence as a remarkable show of unity and love.
According to Mike, the first candle-lighting ceremony raised Ksh1,472,500, which he said reflected the love and respect Tony Ndiema earned throughout his life.
“We are humbled to announce that together we raised Ksh 1,472,500. This is a testament to the love and respect Tony Ndiema earned throughout his life,” he added.
“May God bless each and every one of you abundantly. Thank you for proving that love, unity, and compassion are stronger than sorrow. Tony’s legacy will continue to live on in our hearts.”
Tony’s burial
Although preparations for Tony’s final send-off are ongoing, the family is yet to issue an official statement confirming the burial date. However, the burial is expected to take place in August.
