The news was confirmed by Omollo’s friend and fellow TikToker Mildred on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, who revealed that the young content creator was among five people who were out for a walk when they were confronted by thugs.
Mildred said the group was attacked while walking together, forcing all five to flee in an attempt to escape from their attackers.
According to the TikToker, Omollo ran towards the quarry as he tried to get away from the people who had attacked the group.
“To those who do not know what happened, after confirming from various sources, yes, it is true. They were attacked by thugs, and they tried escaping, and that is how he fled on the quarry side and died,” Mildred said.
She added that Omollo was not alone at the time of the incident, explaining that he was in the company of four other people when the group was attacked.
“They were five people. They were out for a walk when they were attacked. They all tried to escape, and Derrick escaped to the quarry,” she said.
The heartbreaking account has offered the first details surrounding the circumstances in which the popular JKUAT TikToker lost his life, with news of his death sending shockwaves among his friends, fellow students and followers.
Omolo had built a growing following on TikTok, where he was known for his creativity and content that had earned him an increasingly large audience.
His death has consequently left members of the JKUAT community and fellow content creators mourning a young man whose social media journey had been gathering remarkable momentum.
Fellow TikToker Leo described Omollo as a champion while paying tribute to the late content creator and reflecting on the remarkable growth of his online following.
“That was a champion. Rest in peace, Omollo,” Leo said.
Leo recalled that Omolo had grown his TikTok following from just about 1,000 followers to 100,000 followers in a remarkably short period, highlighting the pace at which his content had gained traction.
“The guy made it from 1K followers. He was so creative. He rose to 100K followers within only four months,” Leo said.
