Pastor Kanyari remembers victims of June protests, says Kenya owes them a debt of gratitude
By Steve Ireri, June 25, 2026Salvation Healing Ministry founder pastor Victor Kanyari has joined Kenyans in commemorating those who lost their lives during the June 2024 anti-government demonstrations, paying tribute to the young men and women whose deaths shook the nation and sparked calls for accountability and reform.
In a Facebook message on Thursday, June 25, 2026, Kanyari honoured the victims of the protests, describing them as heroes whose sacrifice should never be forgotten.
The televangelist reflected on the contributions of past and present leaders while emphasising the importance of unity, service and nation-building.
“Today, we honour and thank the mighty leaders who laid the foundation of our great nation through sacrifice, vision and dedication. Their tireless efforts have brought our country to where it stands today,” he wrote.
According to the preacher, leadership is ultimately about service and collective progress, values he said should guide the nation moving forward.
“As we celebrate their legacy, let us join hands in unity, love and hard work to build an even brighter future for generations to come. Leadership is a journey of service, and together we can achieve greater progress,” he stated.

The preacher also used the occasion to reaffirm his political ambitions, describing himself as the incoming Member of Parliament for Kasarani.
Kanyari said he remains committed to serving residents and championing development if elected to office.
“As your incoming MP for Kasarani, I remain committed to walking this journey with you, listening, serving and championing development for every family. Together, we move forward. Together, we rise,” he added.
Alongside the message, Kanyari shared a memorial tribute dedicated to victims who lost their lives during the June demonstrations.
He described them as heroes whose sacrifice should continue to inspire the nation.
“The heroes we remember,” the tribute read, before listing the names of those who died and acknowledging others who made what he termed the ultimate sacrifice.
“We remember. We honour. We build,” Kanyari concluded the memorial message.
