Obinna opens up about adopting 50 children and his dream of raising a large family

Media personality Oga Obinna has shared details about his parenting journey, revealing his desire to raise both biological and adopted children as part of a mission to support vulnerable families.

Speaking during an interview on Monday, June 15, 2026, Obinna said he hopes to have a large family in the future, explaining that his experiences with adopted children have shaped the way he views parenthood and responsibility.

Dream of a bigger family

According to Obinna, his long-term goal is to have ten biological children while also extending support up to 50 other children through adoption and educational assistance.“I want to have 10 biological children and adopt up to 50 children,” he said.

He explained that many of the children he encounters come from difficult backgrounds where families struggle to meet basic needs such as rent, school fees and uniforms. Rather than offering temporary help, Obinna says he prefers finding lasting solutions that can change a child’s circumstances and give parents an opportunity to focus on rebuilding their lives.

“This is because the kids I’ve adopted, some of them, you find they live somewhere in the slums where the rent is Ksh 2,000 a month, then you go to school and find the school fees are about Ksh 10,000 per term,” he noted.

Providing stability through education

Obinna noted that in some cases, moving a child into a boarding school environment can have a positive impact on both the child and their family. He explained that after covering school fees, uniforms and other requirements, he can then shift his attention to helping another child in need.

The comedian added that many of the children he supports have siblings, making it difficult to separate them when offering assistance. “So sometimes when you adopt you find out the child has a sister or brother, so you end up adopting the two of them,” he said

He also revealed that people frequently tag him whenever they come across children who require support, something he says often touches him deeply.

Life in a busy household

Obinna currently has five biological children and 11 adopted children. During school holidays, some of the adopted children spend time at his home, creating what he describes as a lively family environment. To accommodate everyone, he has made practical adjustments, including shared bedrooms and bunk beds.

Despite the busy household, he says being surrounded by children brings him happiness. “I love seeing a bunch of kids. You wake up, everyone hugs you… Dad, dad, dad,” he said.

Different roles as a parent

While discussing parenting, Obinna said he approaches his biological and adopted children differently. “These 11 kids, they are not my biological kids,” he said.

With his biological children, he focuses on building a legacy and guiding them towards a shared vision for the future. “My kids, I can hold them to account. I’m like, listen, guys, this is the vision,” he mentioned

For the adopted children, however, he sees himself as someone helping them move from hardship towards stability and opportunity.
