Njambi Fever questions reaction to Lynn Ngugi’s criticism of Larry Madowo attending Charlene Ruto’s Koito
By Paulette Mboga, August 11, 2026Njambi Fever has questioned the reaction to journalist and content creator Lynn Ngugi’s criticism of journalist Larry Madowo for attending Charlene Ruto’s Koito engagement ceremony.
Njambi wondered whether Lynn was being jealous or whether she was simply calling out people who are highly regarded by the public. She said people can sometimes struggle to accept criticism of those they admire, even when the criticism raises questions worth considering.
“Is Lynn jealous, or is she calling out our “favourites,” and we don’t want to accept that some of the people we highly regard can disappoint us?” Njambi said on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Njambi said people may be quick to defend those they like instead of considering the issue being raised. She explained that admiration can make it difficult for some people to accept that a person they highly regard can disappoint them.
She added that this can lead people to look for reasons to defend their favourite personalities.
“So tunatafuta excuses right left juu ni watu tunapenda hadi tunaona Lynn ndio ako na shida,” Njambi Fever said.
Debate over Larry’s attendance
Njambi’s comments came after Lynn Ngugi questioned Larry Madowo’s decision to attend Charlene Ruto’s Koito engagement ceremony. Madowo, who has been a vocal critic of the Ruto administration, attended the event held at President William Ruto’s Intona Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County, on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
Lynn shared photos from the ceremony and questioned whether someone can maintain strong political positions while also socialising with people they consider part of the system they oppose.
She also questioned whether principles remain meaningful when they change depending on who is present, who gives an invitation or what someone may gain from an interaction.
Her remarks also touched on arguments that Madowo attended because he was friends with the groom. The discussion came after Madowo was pictured interacting with guests at the ceremony, including President William Ruto, bringing attention to his presence at the family event.
Madowo has been criticised over his decision to attend the ceremony despite his position as a vocal critic of the Ruto administration. His attendance led to questions about whether his political views could exist alongside his decision to attend an event involving the president’s family.
Njambi, however, questioned whether people were being too quick to dismiss Lynn’s concerns simply because Madowo is someone they admire, saying some highly regarded people can still disappoint those who hold them in high regard, Njambi Fever said.
