Mungai Eve laughs off claims her career is finished amid online criticism
By Ascah Mwango, July 9, 2026Digital media powerhouse Mungai Eve has defiantly laughed off claims that her career has hit rock bottom following an intense wave of public scrutiny and online speculation over her lifestyle.
The internet personality, who rose to massive prominence as one of East Africa’s pioneering youth content creators, found herself at the center of a social media storm following a public appearance where she attempted to pitch a new smartphone business venture.
Taking to the podium, Eve playfully asked Lang’ata Member of Parliament, Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, to help her market her new tech hustle.
However, instead of a standard promotional shoutout, the comedian-turned-politician offered some blunt, public advice.
While humorously urging the gathered crowd to support Eve’s smartphone brand, Jalang’o explicitly added: “Go back and create content, that’s the Eve we knew.”
Jalang’o’s remarks immediately opened the floodgates for online critics.
Things even got worse after Eve posted a video that attracted the criticism of many people, including Nairobi county administrator Geoffrey Mosiria.
Social media platforms were quickly inundated with speculation that Eve had “fallen off” and could no longer sustain her previous high standard of living.
Trolls ruthlessly tied her business transition to her highly publicised 2024 professional and romantic split from her former director and manager, Director Trevor, claiming her solo efforts were failing to achieve mainstream traction.
While Eve initially chose to brush off the intense online noise with lighthearted humor on her Instagram stories, her close circle refused to let the insults slide.
Taking a stand against the backlash, digital creator Liz Jackson published an explosive video on Instagram on Thursday night, July 9, 2026, aggressively defending Eve’s new corporate focus and calling out the public’s hypocritical expectations.
“Just because we are no longer loitering around with a microphone asking people for interviews doesn’t mean we are not doing well in life,” Liz Jackson captioned her defense video.
Jackson argued fiercely that Eve has simply outgrown her early career model, emphasizing that the tech business is a lucrative hustle that generates significantly more revenue than her previous street interview days.
The video quickly caught the attention of Eve herself, who enthusiastically validated Jackson’s remarks in the comment section, breaking her silence on the ongoing career debate.
“Thanks for saying it out loud my love,” Eve wrote back, addressing the crowd of skeptics.
“It’s crazy to expect someone to be the same person they were 6 years ago when they were just 20 yrs old!!!!!”

By directly aligning with Jackson’s statements, Eve has made it perfectly clear that she views her shift from street media to business management not as a downfall, but as natural adulthood and financial evolution.
