KRG The Don shares lessons on making money and building lasting success

Musician and businessman KRG The Don has shared lessons on making money, investing earnings and building a sustainable career, urging young people to focus on what they love while making smart financial decisions.

Speaking about his journey and the choices that have shaped his career in an interview posted on Saturday, September 5, 2026, KRG said his biggest inspiration as a young person was to do something outside the ordinary, pursue what he loved and find a way to make money from it.

He said he did not come from a rich family but described his upbringing as coming from an “able family” that could provide for his needs while allowing him and his siblings to choose their own paths.

According to KRG, young people should identify what they love doing and explore ways of turning their talents and interests into sustainable careers.

Make your money work for you

KRG also stressed the importance of investing money rather than spending everything earned, particularly for people whose income can fluctuate.

His advice was especially directed at musicians, whom he urged to invest their earnings in ventures that can generate money passively.

He warned artistes against being carried away when they start getting back-to-back shows and making more money.

“Invest your money somewhere where it makes more money passively,” KRG said.

He noted that musicians should think about the future instead of assuming that a successful period will last forever.

Don’t let success create an unsustainable lifestyle

KRG cautioned musicians against changing their lifestyles dramatically simply because they are currently earning more.

He said fame is temporary and that artists need to understand that their fortunes can change.

“Sometimes it’s on, sometimes it’s off,” he said.

KRG, however, acknowledged that people also need to enjoy the money they make and spend on things that motivate them.

He said the important thing is finding a balance between enjoying success and preparing for periods when the money may not come as frequently.

Know when money is not worth your time

The musician also revealed that he has turned down some businesses and jobs because they demanded too much of his time.

KRG said he would not take up an opportunity that requires him to spend all his time working, preferring ventures that give him flexibility.

He said he would rather work remotely or take up an opportunity that allows him to show up when necessary while still having time for other activities.

For KRG, financial success should not mean sacrificing one’s entire life for money.

Talent can open other doors

KRG said young people should not limit their talents to one career path.

He noted that content can be monetised and that the connections people make through their work can create opportunities in other businesses.

For musicians in particular, he suggested that success in music can become a gateway to other ventures if they make good use of their earnings, networks and visibility.

The musician also spoke about the role of faith in his life, saying he believes God has played a central role in his success.

“It’s G-O-D, bro. Without God you have nothing,” KRG said.

He added that knowing God can help put a person in the right place, at the right time and among the right people.
