“Oh Mali! How are you 8 today? The way you’re one of my favourite humans, I’m SO lucky to be your mum,” she wrote.

Mbugua’s tribute reflected her appreciation for the person Mali is becoming, while also highlighting the qualities she admires in him.

His favourite song adds a personal touch

Mbugua also revealed that Mali personally chose the song accompanying the birthday post.

The eight-year-old selected “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees because it is his current favourite song. The song choice added a playful and personal element to the celebration, giving followers a glimpse into the music Mali enjoys at his age.

“So yeah, he makes my heart so full,” Mbugua wrote before reflecting on their journey together.

“What a ride, Mal Mal. Happy birthday, I love you so much, mum,” she concluded.

Mali chooses brother for birthday picture

According to Mbugua, Mali had a specific idea of how he wanted his birthday post to look.

She revealed that he wanted his only birthday picture to include his brother because “he’s my best friend, mum .” The photograph shared by Mbugua shows the two boys seated together, with Mali’s brother’s arm around him as they face away from the camera.

The detail gave the birthday celebration a family-focused feel, with Mbugua highlighting the closeness between her sons rather than centring the occasion solely on Mali.

The celebration comes as Mbugua continues to mark her son’s milestones while sharing selected moments from their family life with her followers.
