Jackie Matubia speaks on grief and healing 1 year after father’s passing

In an emotional message on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the actress reflected on the difficult journey of living without him and the memories that continue to stay with her every day.
She shared that a year has passed since her father took his final rest. Despite the passage of time, she explained that the reality of his absence still feels difficult to accept and remains a painful part of her life.
“One year ago today, my dad took his final rest,” Jackie Matubia said.
The actress noted that many things have happened over the last year. She explained that there have been important moments and achievements that made her think about her father and wish she could speak to him once more.
“It still feels unreal……. So much has happened in our lives this past year, big wins, beautiful milestones, moments that would have had me reaching for my phone to call him first. And every single time, I remember I can’t,” Jackie Matubia said.
Memories that remain strong
As she reflected on her loss, Jackie explained that grief does not completely disappear. She said people learn how to live with the pain even when the person they love is no longer physically present.
“The pain of missing you never really leaves; we simply learn to carry it,” Jackie Matubia said.
The actress also shared her belief that her father continues to watch over the family. She explained that, in her heart, she feels his presence and believes he can see how far they have come since his passing.
“But in my heart, I know you can see us. I know you’re watching over us, smiling at how far we’ve come, cheering us on from heaven,” Jackie Matubia said.
She went on to speak about the things her family misses most about him. According to Jackie, his voice, laughter, wisdom and presence remain deeply missed every day.
“We miss your voice, your laughter, your wisdom, and your presence every single day,” Jackie Matubia said.
As she marked the anniversary, Jackie expressed gratitude for the love and values her father left behind. She said his impact continues to be felt by the family and ended her tribute with a heartfelt message in his memory.
“Thank you for the love you gave us and the foundation you left behind. Until we meet again, Dad. Forever loved. Forever missed,” Jackie Matubia said.
