Ivy Namu: Being a Kenyan has felt like a never-ending nightmare for the past 4 years

In a message shared on Instagram on Monday, June 1, 2026, Ivy expressed solidarity with people who attended a sit-down gathering and those speaking out about issues affecting the country.
She explained that many people are carrying emotional and mental burdens as they try to cope with the situation. Ivy said she appreciated those who were representing others on the ground despite the difficulties involved.

“Standing in solidarity with all the people present at the sit-down today. We are so tired, thank you to the ones representing us kwa ground it’s not easy on the mind, heart or nervous system,” Ivy Namu said.
She noted that the challenges being experienced have left many feeling exhausted. She explained that the situation has affected people emotionally and created a sense of uncertainty about the future.
Ivy also spoke about the feeling of being overlooked in one’s own country. She said many people are trying to remain strong despite the hardships they are facing.
Concerns over Kenya’s future
“feeling dispensable in your own country. Being a Kenyan for the past 4 years has felt like a never-ending nightmare; we are trying to keep it together, but it’s clear we are in the pits,” Ivy Namu said.

She explained that despite the struggles, she continues to hold on to hope for better days ahead. According to her, many Kenyans are doing their best to remain united and support one another through difficult times.
Ivy said she has struggled to find the right words to describe how she feels. However, she maintained that hope remains important even as people continue to face challenges in their daily lives.
“I’ve been at a loss for words for a while, but still hopeful for better days in our lifetime,” Ivy Namu said.
The digital creator emphasised the importance of standing together during difficult moments. She explained that unity and faith can help people navigate tough situations while they continue to look forward to change.
“We hold each other & keep the faith. Protect women and children,” Ivy Namu said.
